General Note
  • General note - Rice harvesting among the Bontoc is accompanied by a ceremony called sa-fo-sab, which is performed before a single grain is picked. The owner of the field builds a fire and, standing while the harvesters sit, recites a wish for a bountiful harvest. He then harvests a handful of grain and the laborers begin their work (Jenks, 103). (See also PE00712.)
