| General Note |
- General note - The Manila Club, formed by 1877 but probably founded c. 1832, was made up mostly of British businessmen who controlled Manila's large commercial houses. It was also nicknamed The British Club, The English Club, and the Club de los Ingleses, and it had its 1877 clubhouse at Nagtahan, the former staff house of Messrs. Russell & Sturgis. The club was located Between Marqués de Comillas (Romualdez) and San Marcelino Streets, in Manila, which were first occupied in November 1908. (by Angus L. Campbell) Other sources claim that The Manila Club may also have been formed by 1873, but the exact year remains uncertain.
