- Notes - In 1870, seven years after the Cavalry barracks had been destroyed, Joaquin Carbonell, commissary general of revenue, decided to develop cigar production, Eduardo Lopez Navarro presented a project to rebuild the barracks for this purpose. The project was completed in 1873. The factory had two shops: one with 220 tables, the other with 180. Each table had an average of 10-11 women. The total number of workers in the factory was between 4,000-4,500 women.
