- Notes - Villamor trained in the U.S.as a member of the Philippine Army . Soon after war broke out in the Pacific, his squadron downed a Japanese Zero fighter strafing Zablan Field; for this he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. Later in the war he was involved in intelligence work in the Visayas. Born as fourth youngest son of Justice Ignacio Villamor, First Filipino president of the University of the Philippines. After graduating from La Salle, joined Philippine Army, sent to Randolph and Kelly Fields for training. Led pursuit squadron of six antiquated fighter planes and downed Zero fighter that was strafing Zablan field on Dec. 10, 1941. Given DSC by MacArthur, sent to Visayas in 1943 to establish intelligence network of Allied Int. Bureau. Died 1971, buried at Libingan ng Bayani.
