| Title |
- Title - Gabriel Custodio: Afternoon rain. 1953
|
| Notes |
- Notes - Oil on woodboard. 29.2 cm x 40 cm. Custodio is hailed as one of the most prolific still-life painters although he did not finish his studies at the U.P. School of Fine Arts; he built a career on sheer talent and hard work. While his experiences include amateur boxing, stage designing, being a lifeguard, soldier and housepainting contractor after he left school in 1932, Custodio''s main inclination and talent is art. He has turned out a score of paintings which have won prizes in local competitions. A favorite painting of his, "My Fishing Village," which won a silver medal in the 1955 United Nations Art Competition, now hangs in the United Nations building in New York.
