- Notes - San Miguel, the first Philippine brewery, was opened by Don Enrique Barretto on October 4, 1890. A year later, the company was reformed as a partnership corporation and Don Enrique named Don Pedro P. Roxas as the manager. In July 1896, Don Pedro bought from Barretto his shares in the company and today, the holdings of the heirs of Don Pedro P. Roxas in this giant corporation is estimated at several millions of pesos.
