- General note - Inherent in all of Nicanor Abelardo's compositions is the sullen note. This is evident in Kundiman ng Luha (Song of Sorrow), a kundiman that never fails to wring the hearts of all who hear it. Dedicated to Samahang Bulakan, the song depicts the sorrow of someone who, after experiencing joy in loving and being loved, grieves alone because of unforeseen misfortune.
