General Note
  • General note - Every summer month of May, folks of every age journey to Antipolo, a small town situated on a hill in the province of Rizal. In this town is found the religious shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage. It is to this image that yearly pilgrimages are made. It is believed that while the image was aboard the Spanish galleon Almirante, the miraculous powers of the Virgin kept the galleon's journey safe from treacherous storms and pirates at sea. Because of this, the Virgin has since been named as the patron travelers and seafarers. (Source: Filipino Rites and Rituals, Philippine Appliance Corp., 1974) YYY
