| General Note |
- General note - The Moriones festival is a Lenten ritual celebrated every Holy Week in Marinduque, principally in the towns of Boac, Gasan and Mogpog. The men who participate in this ritual go about the streets wearing painted morions or masks and dressed as Roman soldiers. This costumed ritual re-enacts the legend of Longinus, the Roman centurion who was put to death by Roman authorities when he professed his belief in Jesus Christ, after the sight of his left-eye was restored by a drop of blood from Jesus' side.
