General Note
  • General note - The devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes originated in Massabielle, Lourdes in Southern France where Our Lady appeared to a young girl named Bernadette Soubirous. In the Philippines, the devotion was introduced by the Capuchin Fathers who came in 1886. The image was carved in 1894 by Manuel Flores and was believed to have saved Manila from destruction by the Americans in 1898.
