| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - This book is a selection of papers presented at a conference commemorating the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, held at the University of New Orleans' Eisenhower Center and involving specialists in different fields. Goes over well-trod ground, the papers sought to examine other issues and angles regarding the war in the Pacific, such as racism, logistics and fuel, prisoners of war and the influence of American politics on General MacArthur. Relevant to the Philippines are the papers by Michael Schaller, "General Douglas MacArthur and the Politics of the Pacific War" (Schaller has written a fuller discussion of this in a separate book); Kenneth J. Hagan, "American Submarine Warfare in the Pacific, 1941-1945"; and Kathleen Warnes, "Nurses under Fire: Healing and Heroism in the Pacific." - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
