| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Well-researched and dramatic telling of the USS Crevalle's special mission to Negros to rescue forty trapped Americans (who faced imprisonment and possible execution if captured by the Japanese) and captured Japanese war plans in 1944. While the submarine's mission provides the climax, this book goes into the backgrounds of the Americans rescued, the Filipino guerrillas who captured the Japanese plans (the so-called "Z" Plan, Japanese Navy operational plans for the defense of the Pacific), off Cebu, and the impact the recovery by the Americans these plans had on the Pacific War. The author was able to interview almost all the surviving civilians who were rescued, and consulted a wide array of primary and secondary materials to write this book. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
