| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Researched account by a Scot writer (he has written other books on the Japanese Kempeitai and the Kamikaze, but is not a specialist). Describes Japanese atrocities at sea, particularly the hell ships (ships which transported POWs to Japan or the Asian mainland). Also includes chapters on atrocities committed by Japanese submarines and surface raiders, machine-gunning shipwrecked sailors and POWs, among others. Strong British bias: the hell ships are mainly those which transported British and Australian prisoner of war. One of the most infamous hell ships for the Americans - the Oryoku Maru - is not listed in the appendix nor is it in the index. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
