  • Summary, etc. - Personal account of an air corps soldier with the 698th Ordnance Company. Hileman's narrative begins with the surrender of Bataan, and describes how he and some friends tried to evade the Japanese, aided by Filipinos. In the end, however, he and his companion give themselves up, fearing for the safety of their Filipino friends. As a prisoner of war, Hileman is brought to Bilibid Prison, to Cabanatuan, and then to Japan on the hell ship Nissyo Maru. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
