| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Personal account (with additional information from books and articles he had read) of a mechanic of the US Army Air Corps' 28th Bombardment Squadron. He was in Clark Field when it was bombed, but was sent to Del Monte Field in Mindanao to service B-17 bombers expected in the field. He claims he was there when Macarthur and his family evacuated to Australia on a B-17, alleging that he helped load crates, fur coats and a large amount of luggage on the plane, a detail that is not confirmed anywhere (this cargo could not have been brought on board the small PT boat which took MacArthur to Mindanao). He narrates his experiences as prisoner of war in Malaybalay; prison ship (Tottori Maru) to Japan in late 1942, and stayed in Japan until the end of the war. He criticizes Japan for not apologizing for its atrocities; he also criticizes the US government for not recognizing the sacrifices of the POWs under Japan. An appendix provides a roster of his squadron on Mindanao. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
