- Summary, etc. - Partly a researched account, partly a memoir of a retired US Navy sailor, who was a member of the Asiatic Fleet. Mostowski fought as an infantryman on Bataan (most of the ships had departed for the south and out of the Philippines). He was captured there and survived three and a half years as a prisoner of war. Mostowski writes about the Asiatic Fleet and inserts his own experiences and observations, but it is not too clear which is which. Because of his - and his fellow defenders - sacrifices and hardships, and the tragic fate of the fleet, he urges the US to be prepared. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
