  • Summary, etc. - Personal account by an American merchant marine engineer who volunteered for duty with the US Army in 1941. He was sent to the Philippines where he was assigned to the army mine planter Harrison which was part of Corregidor's sea defenses. He briefly describes his experiences during the siege of Corregidor, but focuses on his experience as a prisoner of war. He details his experiences as a POW in Corregidor, the trip to Manila and the gloat march to Bilibid Prison, the train ride to Cabanatuan, hell ship voyage to Korea and thence to Manchuria.
