- Summary, etc. - Personal account of the war and occupation in San Pablo, Laguna. Hernandez writes about his family's ordeals during the war: evacuating the town to escape the Japanese; returning when conditions stabilized, but maintaining links with the guerrillas. Details life in the town under the Japanese and also the guerrilla attacks on the Japanese as well as the liberation campaign in 1945 and the guerrillas role in it. One of the few detailed accounts of the Japanese occupation outside Manila. (This was reprinted in San Pablo City in 1982, with a few omissions in the main text, but with some added features, under the title "For Love of Freedom"). - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
