Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Detailed discussion of the tragedy of the comfort women (or sex slaves) under Japan, which included Filipinas. The authors/compilers are internationally recognized lawyers championing the cause of oppressed women, and were instrumental in forming the International Commission of Jurists which investigated cases of forced prostitution under the Japanese army in South Korea, the Philippines and Japan (They also subsequently served as the jurors in the 2000 Tokyo Tribunal which heard the stories of comfort women all over Asia, and which declared the Japanese government guilty for the atrocity). The book provides a chronology and overall history of the comfort women issue; various documents, statements of witnesses and ex-soldiers. The legal issues, different positions and stands on the issue are documented in this effort to find justice for the victims of sexual violence committed by the Japanese armed forces during World War II. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
