Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Personal account of an American mining engineer and his wife, Margaret, in northern Luzon. Not wanting to be captured by the Japanese, the couple evaded the Japanese by evacuating to the mountains, and being on the move. His wife gave birth while they were in hiding. They survived until stricken by malaria, at which time they had no choice but to surrender to the Japanese. They were interned at Camp Holmes, later moved to Bilibid and eventually liberated there. The Japanese suspected Bill of being a guerrilla and tortured him; he never broke nor did he lose his faith in God. This book tells of their travails and undying faith, as well as love for each other. The family survived the war and was repatriated to the US, where Bill did good. Bill and Marg died together in a tragic car accident in 1989. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
