Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - The subject of this biography is the author's father-in-law, a World War II Bataan and guerrilla veteran. After the war, Quimosing became a college professor. He passed away in 1971, before the author of this book was able to meet him. On Bataan, Quimosing (a reserve captain) was executive officer of the 12th Infantry Regiment, 11th Division, which fought in the Battle of the Pockets. Capt. Quimosing marched the Death March, survived and was released in September 1942, a very sick man. Despite his ill health, he joined the guerrillas as an intelligence officer, and assisted in the liberation of Luzon. Bastian also tells the story of the Quimosing family in parallel with Dionisio's story. Aside from Bataan, the story of the Quimosings revolved around Nueva Vizcaya and Tarlac, which receive scant attention in most works on the war in the Philippines. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
