Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Personal account of a US Marine officer with the 4th Marine Regiment in Corregidor. Hawkins begins his story as a prisoner of war (he does not detail the defense of Corregidor), and describes life in Cabanatuan POW camp. He was transferred to the Davao Penal Colony where, together with nine other Americans, he was able to escape. He joined the guerrillas on Mindanao while waiting for a submarine to pick the escapees up; he narrates his experiences with the guerrillas in some detail. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
