Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Personal account by a young American who wanted to see the world, so he joined the US Army in 1940. He was assigned to Corregidor. He gives a brief account of life on the island before the war (which did not appeal to all) and the beginning of the war. The bulk of this memoir is on the travails of prisoner of war life under the Japanese, in Bilibid, Cabanatuan, hell ship, and Osaka, Japan. He is frank and mentions ugly incidents without naming names. He includes a list of prisoners with him in Osaka. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
