Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Saga of the captain and crew of the US Navy minesweeper Quail and its operations in the defense of Bataan in 1942. After being scuttled to prevent capture by the Japanese, Commander Morrill and his crew were assigned to a mortar battery in Fort Hughes (Caballo Island). The high point of this book, however, is the decision not to surrender when Corregidor fell, but to escape to Australia on a small, open boat. Morrill and seventeen of his men made the trip but not without many close calls. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
