Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Personal account of a husband and wife missionary couple who were teaching in Silliman University in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. The Chapmans had arrived in the Philippines in 1916; when World War II broke out in December 1941, they evacuated to the mountains along with most of the faculty and staff of Silliman. The Japanese sought out the Americans in the hills, and eventually caught the elderly Chapman couple. They were returned to Dumaguete where interned; later they were brought to Santo Tomas Internment Camp for the duration of the war. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
