| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Personal account of an American Seventh-Day Adventist missionary and her family, evacuating their missionary station in Japan in 1940 as conditions worsened and anti-American sentiment grew. The author and her family moved to Manila, only to be caught by the war there. She describes her life in the Philippines before the war, the shattering of that world by Japanese bombings, and subsequent internment in Santo Tomas. She narrates life in the internment camp, and then her transfer to Los Baños in 1944. She briefly tells of the dramatic liberation of the camp in 1945, and of picking up the pieces in war-ravaged Manila. The genesis of this book was in Los Baños, where the author began writing in early 1945, just prior to liberation. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
