| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Personal account of a young mestiza girl (English and Spanish parents) who grew up in Manila and Baguio before and during the war. Based on her pre-war journal and wartime diary, she writes of facing various challenges even before the war (her parents' divorce; fending for herself in boarding school), and the difficulties of living in Japanese-occupied Manila. She was considered a neutral rather than an enemy alien, and thus lived with her Spanish mother and relatives outside Santo Tomas. She and her relatives were caught in the midst of the Battle of Manila, where they lost their home. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
