Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - A researched biography of Col. Masanobu Tsuji, a Japanese staff officer who was so renowned for his tactical planning in the Japanese Army that he was called the "God of Strategy." Tsuji was Gen. Yamashita's operations officer in the invasion of Malaya and Singapore. But beyond being a skilled tactician, Tsuji won infamy by ordering atrocities on prisoners of war in Malaya, Singapore, the Philippines and elsewhere: He was responsible for the execution of thousands of Chinese in Singapore, the murder of British prisoners of war in Malaya and Singapore, and is blamed for the killings committed in the Bataan Death March. Ward, using eyewitness testimony, interviews, archival documents and Japanese sources, traces the life of this Japanese officer, and how American officials allowed him to get away after the war. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
