| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Novel set in the Philippines during World War II and the Japanese occupation, with the main character being a Swedish (based on the author?) lumber mill superintendent in Negros who has close relations with Filipinos.
The main character falls in love with a mestiza Filipina, and the two embark on a risky voyage through the Visayas and to Manila to report to his company officials. On the way, he meets Japanese, Filipino guerrillas, as well as spies.
Written as a tribute to Filipino women, trying to capture local color and culture but written from the perspective of a foreigner who knows quite a bit of Visayan geography. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
