| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Saga of three generations of the Zosa family in Tacloban, Leyte, from the Spanish period through the coming of the Americans. The book gives special attention to the war experiences of the family members. The family patriarch was a medical doctor who worked in the local government; their daughter Cristeta was sent to Manila to study before the war and had married a young doctor, who moved to Tacloban. Cristeta's son joined the Philippine Army Air Corps and became a pilot. When the war reached Leyte, the Zosa family was not spared, and Tacloban was occupied by the Japanese. The book gives details of life in occupied Tacloban, as well as the experiences of pilot Ramon Zosa and the guerrillas. The author was a journalist who served with the Australian military forces and was assigned to Gen. MacArthur's headquarters in the Philippine campaign; he landed in Leyte and got to know the Zosa intimately enough to write this account. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
