- Summary, etc. - Valuable compilation of important unpublished official government records covering the Japanese occupation. These include the minutes of meetings of prominent Filipinos in January 1942, when they were being pressured by the Japanese to collaborate with the Japanese Military Administration; minutes of the Philippine Council of State in 1942 and 1943; minutes of the Enlarged Cabinet of the Philippine Republic for 1944; reports on peace and order, letters, memoranda and other documents regarding Japanese maltreatment of Filipinos, immediate post-war rationalizations for why high Filipino officials decided to collaborate. Included is a summary of Manuel A. Roxas' wartime activities. The compiler, a bibliophile and historian, worked in Malacañang Palace during the war and was able to acquire copies of these documents. He graciously allowed the documents in his collection to be published in this special volume of the Philippine Historical Association's "Historical Bulletin." (Subsequent issues of the Bulletin, not solely devoted to the Japanese occupation, contained other important documents from Garcia's collection). - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
