- Summary, etc. - Personal account of a young American who joined the US Army Air Corps in 1939, and was assigned to Nichols Field in 1940. He describes life in the air base before the war, the outbreak of war and Japanese attacks on the field, the hurried move to Bataan, fighting as infantry, and surrender. He narrates his experiences in the Death March and as a prisoner of war in Camp O'Donnell, Cabanatuan, the hell ship Nissyo Maru, forced labor in the mines at Moji, in Kyushu, liberation and returning home in 1945.
