  • Summary, etc. - A personal account of the US Marine Band of the Fourth Marine Regiment from its last days in Shanghai through its transfer to the Philippines just prior to the war, arrival in Olongapo; a short stay in Bataan and service in Corregidor until its fall. Band members were on beach defense at Corregidor, but the Japanese landed on the other side of the island and thus Versaw and his fellow bandsmen did not get to see much action.
