Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Biography of Mina Andy Aasen, an American nurse who joined the US Army Nurse Corps, who arrived in the Philippines on June 1941. She was assigned to Sternberg Hospital in Manila, moved to Bataan after the start of the war, and later served in the hospital in Malinta Tunnel in Corregidor. After the surrender of Corregidor, she and the other American nurses were brought to Santo Tomas Internment Camp to wait out the war. The author also writes about Mina's life after the war (she died in 1974), and a sentimental visit she (the author) took to the Philippines in 1980 with other surviving "Angels of Bataan and Corregidor." Mina was the author's aunt. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
