Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - "Tatang Dan still vividly recalls his personal experiences with Japanese atrocities, the evacuation to Porac with his fellow Angelenos, his discovery of the plane wreckage of Capt. Colin P. Kelly, whom US President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed as "the first American hero of World War II," and his meeting with Capt. Sakai Saburo, the Japanese pilot who downed Capt. Kelly's plane, considered "Japan's greatest living ace pilot of World War II." The second part of this book is actually a second book entitled The Battle of Porac, which WWII historian Dr. Ricardo Trota Jose describes as "a key battle that has not been given much attention by Filipino historians. Had the Japanese been able to break through the Filipino lines at Porac, there might not have been a Battle of Bataan."
