- Summary, etc. - Personal account by the Chinese editor of the Fookien Times, largest and most respected Chinese newspaper in Manila. Since Go and his newspaper had taken a strongly anti-Japanese stand, "Jimmy" Go chose to evacuate to the hills outside Manila, since the Japanese would obviously be looking for him. Arrested by USAFFE police as German spies, he was fortuitously cleared, and set up camp in the mountains. Aided by Filipino and American friends, Mr. Go was able to remain free from the Japanese even though he could able be smuggled in and out of Manila. A devout Christian, he recounts how his unshakeable faith saw him through, and also how his close friends were caught and killed by the Japanese. Overlaps and duplicate his other books, the earlier "The Hour Had Come" and the later "1,105 Days." - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
