  • Summary, etc. - A comprehensive scholarly study of the internment of Western - with a strong focus on British and Australian - civilians in Japanese occupied Asia. Covers internment camps in Singapore, the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies and elsewhere identifying commonalities in terms of Japanese policy (or absence of such), the internment experience, reactions and adaptations. She specifically addresses the internee responses by gender and age - men, women and children - comparing and contrasting the experiences across nationality.
