Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Researched account (without citing sources) of the Bukidnon-Cotabato Force, a unique guerrilla organization of Filipino Muslims and Christians fighting against a common foe. Organized as a volunteer force under Salipada Pendatun (who would promote himself to general) armed with bolos, the Moro Bolo Battalion (as it was first known) refused to surrender following the fall of Corregidor. They reorganized as a guerrilla force, joined by Christian officers, and launched their own offensives against the Japanese, particularly in Malaybalay. The unit eventually became part of the 10th Military District under Lt. Col. Wendell Fertig. Includes documentary appendices (orders, letters) and reproductions of paintings showing the guerrillas in action. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
