| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Robert Davis was drafted into the US Army and assigned to the 200th Coast Artillery (Anti-Aircraft) Regiment formed of New Mexico National Guard men. He was shipped to the Philippines just prior to the war, and was in Clark Field when the Japanese struck. Davis' was reassigned to a newly organized unit, the Provisional 515th Coast Artillery (Anti-Aircraft) Regiment, tasked with providing anti-aircraft protection for Manila. Before long Manila was declared an Open City and Davis' unit was withdrawn to Bataan. Boisclare narrates Davis' experiences in Bataan, and devotes much attention to his prisoner-of-war life, from the Death March on to Camp O'Donnell, prison ship to Japan, forced labor in Japan and finally liberation. Boisclare includes the list of Battery D, 515th CAC members and traces their fates. The author was a registered nurse who met Robert Davis, a former member of the 515th Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) and won his confidence to get him to tell his story. She decided to write his experiences down, resulting in this book. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
