| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Hartendorp was the editor and owner of the respected pre-war monthly, Philippine Magazine. Literate, well informed and long-time resident of the Philippines, Hartendorp occasionally wrote poetry, some of which were published before the war. This volume is a compilation of many of his poems, some pre-war, others written after the war, and a few essays.
One section of the book is composed of poems he wrote while interned in Santo Tomas Internment Camp, where he was named historian. Four essays are in this section, taken from the as-yet unpublished history of Santo Tomas Internment Camp (on the first executions conducted by the Japanese; tobacco and death in Santo Tomas, the destruction of Manila in 1945). - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
