Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Part fiction, part memoir of the author's experiences as a prisoner of war captured on Bataan. He graphically describes the Death March and POW life in Camp O'Donnell, Cabanatuan, hell ship to Japan (Nissyo Maru) and forced labor there until liberation in 1945. Ingle later testified at the post-war war crimes trials in Tokyo. While the POW descriptions are vivid and undoubtedly real, Ingle inserts a love story which is less credible. This book has almost nothing on his combat experiences in Bataan, but this part of Ingle's life is covered in his other book, "No Less a Hero," which deals with his pre-war life and wartime experience in Bataan. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
