| General Note |
- General note - No. 5. War in the Philippines. The editor presents 20 articles by historians and veterans on different aspects of the war in the Philippines, especially during the first six months.
|
| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Interesting and useful compilation of articles on military operations in the Philippines from American and Japanese perspectives.
Twenty articles are included, some of which are personal accounts, others researched or journalistic accounts. Two are interrogations of senior Japanese naval officers, one on the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the other on the Japanese offensive in 1941-1942. Many articles deal with the defense of the Philippines in 1941-1942, a few deal with the Battle of Leyte Gulf and liberation campaigns. Of note is a Japanese account of the Death March, by a Japanese guard.
A few typographical errors mar the work, which unfortunately does not cite where the works were first published (all had been previously published). - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
