Summary, Etc.
  • Summary, etc. - Condensation of one chapter of the general history of World War II in the Philippines, "Triumph in the Philippines," which was written under the auspices of the Combat History Division, G-1 Section, Headquarters Army Forces in the Western Pacific (AFWESPAC). This was the only section of "Triumph in the Philippines" that was published separately; the whole history was published only much later by Celedonio A. Ancheta. This slim volume presents a brief history of Corregidor before the war, and focuses on the 1942 siege of Corregidor and the 1945 retaking by the Americans, highlighted by MacArthur’s return. It was intended for visitors to the island just after the war. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
