Kennington was operations officer of one of the battalions involved, and narrates the operations of a battalion in the attack.
Straightforward narrative with a section on analysis and lessons learned. Credits intelligence reports from Filipino guerrillas, but also stresses the need for surprise in similar operations, as well as the need for speed since the Japanese were known to maltreat civilian internees.
This operation was risky, since it took place behind Japanese lines; it was carried out successfully, through a coordinated parachute jump and ground attack. All 2,147 internees were quickly evacuated by amphibious tanks to Muntinlupa.
