| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - This large-format book provides a humorous and satirical perspective of American prisoners of war under the Japanese, through the author's sketches drawn in various prison camps: Camp O'Donnell, Karenko (Taiwan) and Manchuria. The humor in these cartoons was a crucial element in enabling POWs to survive the horrors of prison camp life, and provided an outlet for pent up emotions. Fortier was senior American adviser to the Philippine Army's 41st Division, but none of his sketches document the fighting on Bataan. Fortier also provides a list of fellow POWs in Karenko. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
