| Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - Not a typical historical narrative, this book is a painstakingly researched compilation of names of all New Mexicans who were killed, captured, or died as a result of imprisonment by the Japanese in World War II. The bulk of these New Mexicans served in the Philippines, mainly in the 200th and the 515th Coast Artillery Regiments. The author/compiler, a resident of New Mexico, also divides the names by county, showing the percentage of men who did not survive. Includes the family, ethnic (many were native Americans) and other information. Chapters of the book which precede the lists included therein summarize the role of the New Mexican units in the Philippine defense campaign, the POW ordeals, the home front's efforts to aid their boys; the memorials and memorial activities in the state which not only commemorate the loss but also keep the memories alive. Also provides information on how and where to research about specific individuals. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
