Summary, Etc. |
- Summary, etc. - File of articles, service record, newspaper clippings, transcript of an interview and correspondence as well as brief narrative by the author himself on Swick’s military activities during World War II and Korea. Swick was a reserve US Army officer, but before he was called to active service went to Luzon as a mining supervisor for Itogon Mines. He aided the USAFFE in the Baguio area, and when Baguio was evacuated by the military forces, joined the guerrillas. Caught by the Japanese and tortured, he insisted that he was not a guerrilla. The Japanese eventually believed him and interned him in Camp Holmes, just outside Baguio. In 1944 he escaped and joined the USAFIP NL guerrilla group as an officer and served with distinction. After the war he remained in the US Army and saw action in Korea. - Prof. Ricardo T. Jose
