  • Summary, etc. - Autobiography of the legendary "Life" magazine photographer. Mydans, with his wife, was on assignment to the Philippines in late 1941, covering defense preparations. They were caught by the war in Manila and interned at Santo Tomas; they were repatriated in late 1942, and Mydans covered other fronts of the war. He landed with MacArthur's forces in Lingayen in January 1945, and covered the liberation campaign, including the freeing of Santo Tomas and the battle for Manila.
