| General Note |
- General note - Construction of this adobe stone church was started in 1826 and completed in 1849. But an earthquake which occured in March 1887 seriously damaged the church and the adjoining convent, calling for necessary repairs that were accomplished by Frays Vicente Rojo and Higinio del Almo. In February, 1900 the church was badly damaged again when Filipino troops burned it in the course of an encounter with the Americans. Although the outside walls withstood the onslaught, it became necessary to build a provisional church of bamboo and nipa since the interior was totally damaged. Fr. Epifanio Garcera built that provisional chapel a year after the church was burned. YYY
