| General Note |
- General note - Detail of the facade shows, on top of the main door, the Spanish coat of arms: the Imperial crown over the kingdoms of Leon and Castille and the pillars of Hercules, signifying that the Spanish crown reigns sovereign over the whole of Spain and the Indies (colonies). The first church of Nabua was constructed in 1578 but this was destroyed by fire in 1610. The following year, the second church was constructed by Fr. Alonso Jardaque, only to be ruined by typhoon after several years. Between 1630 and 1656, Fr. Juan Bautista Marza built a wooden church which was subsequently replaced by the present stone church. Building of the fourth and present church was started in 1698 by Fray Gonzalo S. Bernardino and completed in 1708 (?) by Fray Acacio de la Concepcion. (also see CH00358) YYY
